I haven't been keeping up with this at all. I'm just so busy with everything else that I have no motivation to do anything with this. I'm sorry. I may get back into it at some point. :(anabellsterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16999407954179326732noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2664113174091301265.post-90024607773867759982008-06-19T19:26:00.001-04:002008-06-19T19:27:07.757-04:00Neglecting ThisI've seriously been neglecting this blog. I've just been doing other things. I've been much more interested lately in keeping up my deviant art account. I signed my teaching contract yesterday, and today I've been writing lesson plans. I'm a busy gal...so sorry for the neglect. <3anabellsterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16999407954179326732noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2664113174091301265.post-27620264339751512952008-06-13T21:36:00.003-04:002008-06-13T21:40:06.767-04:00YayI'm so excited that my last post had five comments! Thank you all so much for commenting. I promise I will get back to you soon! My tire is now fixed, thanks to my boyfriend. He had to buy a new one because there was no fixing my old one. I have AC now as well, so its all good!

I went with some friends today and watched The Happening. I was so excited and pumped to see it, but I was so let down. I won't give anything away, but I will say that it was a major disappointment! My friend loved it though, so who knows, maybe you will too!

That's all for now. Like I said, thanks to all who have been commenting! I will get back to you soon!anabellsterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16999407954179326732noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2664113174091301265.post-11859656844761055002008-06-12T13:42:00.004-04:002008-06-12T15:14:51.510-04:00Damn It!!!
*BANGS HEAD AGAINST WALL* *BANGS HEAD AGAINST WALL* *BANGS HEAD AGAINST WALL*

I was supposed to get a physical today as part of the hiring process into the school system. I got in my car, drove about 20 feet, and then the person in front of me stopped, got out of their car, walked over to mine, and said "Honey, you've got a flat tire. You're going to mess your wheel up."

*BANGS HEAD AGAINST WALL* *BANGS HEAD AGAINST WALL* *BANGS HEAD AGAINST WALL*

So, I turned around, and drove the 20 feet back to my apartment. I had to reschedule my physical for Monday. I've sat here and cried because I'm a whine-sack. My boyfriend told me he would see if he could get off work early to come and fix it. My dad said he would drive up here if he had to, but I'm so annoyed. I hate when my plans are screwed over things I can't control!

I don't even know how I drove as far as I did without knowing I had a flat tire!

Now, not only do I have NO AIR, but I can't go anywhere because of my tire!!!

UPDATE! I'M GETTING A NEW AIR CONDITIONER INSTALLED AS I TYPE! WOOHOO!!!!

anabellsterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16999407954179326732noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2664113174091301265.post-23465802492231337832008-06-10T16:15:00.003-04:002008-06-10T16:17:51.592-04:00Still No AirI've been home with the parents for the last few days. My air conditioning quit working again at my apartment Friday morning, don't remember if I already posted about that. So I went and reported it again to maintenance on Friday. My boyfriend has the extra key to my apartment and he stopped by yesterday to see if it was fixed. NO!!! The entire front of it had froze over with ice, yet again. So, I have to go back to the office tomorrow and report it yet again. I will keep reporting it until it is fixed! I don't pay rent out my butt for nothing!

I should also have more time tomorrow to devote to this. We shall see.anabellsterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16999407954179326732noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2664113174091301265.post-3728606200567227172008-06-07T16:44:00.011-04:002008-06-07T16:59:47.472-04:00Good, Bad, or Am I Just Plain Crazy?I don't know where to begin or how to organize my thoughts. Yesterday I uploaded some recent photographs I took onto my computer. Upon first glance, I love them. But...I wonder...will I love them this time next week? This happens to me all the time, and I wonder if I am the only one, or if we all do this?

Another example, I was going through some of my photographs and art on my deviant art site yesterday. When I uploaded most of the items months ago, I loved them, but upon looking at them yesterday...I thought to myself, "What was I thinking???"

So, I ended up taking a lot of things off, revising them and re-uploading. The question is, this time tomorrow, will I still like my revisions, or will I hate them? I don't know, and it drives me nuts! I didn't even do anything digital to most of the photographs I took Friday. I will probably do that in the next few days.

I guess I will post of a few of my older photos. (Feel free to buy prints on deviant, unless I am completely unaware of their suckyness!)

My cousin and a little boy she babysits

One of my newer photos. He thought he had fixed it, and so did I. The problem was, the filter in the front of the AC was dirty which was causing the entire front of the AC to freeze over with ice, not allowing any air out. He cleaned my filter and scraped off the ice, and it seemed to work. That is, it seemed to work until this morning when I woke up in the heat. I took the cover off of the AC and found an entire solid sheet of ice over the front of my AC. So apparently my air filter is not the problem. I had to go all the way back to my landlords office and fill out yet another maintenance request, because you can't call them in, it has to be done in writing. What a drag!

I woke up so early in the heat, and it made me so upset, that I could not go back to sleep. So here I sit, half asleep and hungry. Poor, poor pitiful me. I'm annoyed with myself for complaining so much.anabellsterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16999407954179326732noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2664113174091301265.post-90819713743653683802008-06-05T12:29:00.005-04:002008-06-05T14:24:06.102-04:00I'm not lazy, no, really. It has been a while since I posted, I know, I know. I haven't had much to talk about. Such a sad excuse. This great blog is actually what provoked me to get off my lazy butt and post something. I found that blog quite interesting and intend on visiting it often! I really do wish more people visited here. It would mean so much to me. The fact is, I don't know how to successfully get people to come here, and it has pondered across my mind of abandoning my blog altogether. Sigh.

I'm itching to go out to the local cemetary and take some photos. There are some pretty old, monumental tombstones there. I want to go, but I'm kind of afraid to go by myself.

My AC at my apartment quit working yesterday. Of course it was perfect timing, since the temperature outside has now reached the 90s! AAAH! My landlord's maitenance people are supposed to come and fix it. Who knows when? I do not.

I'm really pleased that Barack Obama has the nomination for the presidency. He is really captivating and inspiring. I think he is just what this country needs. I don't feel like it went well at all. When I was leaving, I was in my car, and who do I seen walking in? This girl I graduated with. I just know she went in there and knocked me out of the water. The principal is supposed to let me know something today, really soon. Honestly...I'm just sitting here waiting for the bad news. I guess I'll be a substitue teacher the following school year. That's how bad I feel about my job interview.

I should probably just get used to things going this way for me. I mean, it's not like anything ever turns out the way I want it to, right?

And even more, for the people that doubted me, this is just going to be proof for them, and they are going to love it. I really thought I could get this job, but now, I don't know. I just want to lay in my bed and cry all evening. I don't know what else to do. I don't want to work in another county. I want to work here, in this town.

I don't know what I'm going to do to make money. All I know, is that I wish the principal would call me and let me know something!

I just know the other girl knocked me out of the water. :|anabellsterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16999407954179326732noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2664113174091301265.post-61997823014244238892008-05-17T19:20:00.003-04:002008-05-17T19:22:46.704-04:00I'm a FinalistI got a voicemail from the principal of the school I am interested in. I am one of two finalists for the teaching position, and I have to go in for yet ANOTHER interview on Thursday, the 22nd, that 4:00. Wish me luck!!! I am determined to get this job. This is MY job. If I don't get it, I think I might slip into a deep depression . . . and I'm only half joking!

I survived the Dream Theater shindig with the boys last night. It was pretty fun, even though I didn't really know any of the songs. An experience . . . none the less . . . !

I'm going to go work on a painting. Hopefully, it will be good, and I will be able to take a photo of it and show it the interview committee.....anabellsterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16999407954179326732noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2664113174091301265.post-53863554390710205422008-05-15T12:41:00.002-04:002008-05-15T12:44:39.395-04:00RelaxationMy job interview is over with! Now I have to wait another week or so before I will find out if I got it. I HOPE I DID. I'm trying to be positive, but I'm just so afraid that I won't get it. My luck . . . I won't. There goes the negativity again.

I don't have anything at all to do today. WOOHOO. I'm going to sit here and watch Night of the Living Dead and check my email.

I don't have any artwork to post today. Mainly because I'm too lazy to post it. This is a pitiful post, huh?

I'm going to see Dream Theater in Columbus, Ohio tomorrow. So maybe I'll get a good post in on Saturday or Sunday?anabellsterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16999407954179326732noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2664113174091301265.post-88558464240397896672008-05-11T10:42:00.003-04:002008-06-05T14:25:49.546-04:00College is OverI'm officially a college graduate! To be honest, I really don't feel any different. My mom asked me if I felt like I was as free as a bird now. I told her no, because I don't. I told her I didn't think I would ever feel that way.

I have a committee interview on Wednesday for a job, and I'm really nervous. I hope I do well. I want to be amazing. I want to be one of those people that successfully sells their work on Etsy, and on DeviantArt. Why can't I? I think it might all come down to time, and a little bit of money. I graduate on Saturday. Hopefully after then I will have more time to devote to my art. I don't have a lot of funds to go out and buy wonderful supplies, but hopefully that will change soon. I want to be amazing!!!

Student teaching is OVER. Can we all give a big yell of HURRAY!!!!!!!!!! ? My friend is having a party tonight to celebrate. I'm not going. I never was one for beerpong. . . although I would enjoy of a game of cornhole. . . nope...not going. I'll just hang out with my boyfriend and play the new Gran Turismo Prologue that he foolishly bought for PS3. Does this make me a bit antisocial? Maybe. I don't care!

I have an interview in the morning. I'm excited, scared, nervous, happy, anxious, and scared some more. I want it to go well, and it will as long as I don't go blank on the questions. Wish me luck!!!

My advisor wrote me a wonderful letter of recommendation. I've got to go the library to print it out tonight.

Woo.anabellsterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16999407954179326732noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2664113174091301265.post-81446176931270953532008-05-04T12:52:00.004-04:002008-05-04T12:59:45.052-04:00I'm still not over it.I'm still not over the fact that I met Ben McKenzie. It's rather pathetic I suppose.

Anywho, it's official. I graduate from college in less than a week! It's a bit surreal. I have a job interview on Friday. I hope I get the job. I want it more than anything.

I don't have much art news going on. Just that I've got that interview for an art teacher position, that I've already mentioned.

I'm going to post some artwork by the artist, Red Grooms? Why Red Grooms you might ask? One of my students during my student teaching had to do research on him. He constantly complained that he couldn't find any information on him, and well, the name just stuck in my head.

Red Grooms is an American multi-media artist, best known for his pop art. Thanks wikipedia!

Would anyone like to rate my blog, here? I have had a very exciting afternoon!

Benjamin McKenzie, who played Ryan Atwood on The O.C. visited my college campus today to talk about Barack Obama......I MET HIM. I couldn't be more excited.

Sorry for the random-ness, but he was always my favorite on the show. This is a work sample I created for one of my eighth grade class I'm teaching. It's loosely based on the architecture of Frank Gehry.

Basically, all you do is:

Find a base, such as a wooden block, matte board, possibly even foam core can be used.

Use hot glue to put together an arrangement of found objects to create an original, dynamic form.

Once all your pieces are glued, and the glue is dry, take pantyhose and carefully stretch it over your model. This for me was the hardest part!

Once the pantyhose is completely stretched over your form take a mixture of 75% Elmer's glue, 25% white tempera paint and paint it! This will harden the pantyhose.

Wait 24 hours, then spray paint it. I haven't spray painted mine yet.

I would strongly recommend taking a look at Frank Gehry's architecture. It's some of the most interesting I've seen. I may come back here later and post some photos of it.

Also, I want to credit Scholastic Arts Magazine for this idea. :)anabellsterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16999407954179326732noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2664113174091301265.post-32438852583980176242008-04-23T17:18:00.002-04:002008-04-23T17:19:00.541-04:00Not On the TestFor all you fabulous teachers out there, watch this video! :)

http://www.notonthetest.com/anabellsterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16999407954179326732noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2664113174091301265.post-60051650267473641302008-04-20T13:25:00.006-04:002008-04-20T13:36:46.702-04:00Morandi with ColorThis painting was inspired by the work of Morandi. His paintings often consisted of still lifes containing very dull color. I thought it would be interesting to do this with some intense colors. I have seen bits and pieces of it. I haven't had the opportunity to see it all, but I would LOVE TO. If you don't know what The Cremaster Cycle is, it's a sequence of five films by Matthew Barney. Wikipedia describes it as being: "The conceptual departure point for the cycle is the male cremaster muscle, and the films are filled with anatomical allusions to reproductive organs and the process of sexual differentiation." I think the visuals of these films are stunning. Here are some photos. Thanks to Wikipedia as well.

Another artist I've been reading about today is Ronnie Landfield.
